Pierre Fabre’s tooth

3D design drawing of tooth, dental care,

Pierre Fabre Oral Care was looking for a molar model, effigy of their entity, to animate their booth at conferences or medical seminars.

The specifications were as follows:

  1. The molar had to be around 1m20 in height
  2. It had to be easily transportable and therefore demountable
  3. A solid and strong design to withstand shocks and travels
  4. The logo of Pierre Fabre Oral Care had to be written on the model

So began the first phase, the design. The design had to be as realistic as possible taking into account that the model is going to be transported and (re)assembled often. This meant cut the model into several parts without being too bulky. The design was done using Autodesk‘s Fusion 360 software.

In addition to the disassembly feature of the tooth, we had to take into account the size of the 3D printer for manufacturing.

The technology chosen for this project is SLA or Stereolithography. That’s when our partner, 3D Smart Solutions, came into play.

We have therefore refined the model together by sharing our respective requirements with the technicians of 3D Smart Solutions. While keeping the needs of the customer and the constraints of the printer used in mind.
